I did promise myself I'd never write a poem like this, because writing about love is a sign of weakness in my mind, and so over done that no matter what its about it will be compared to every other poem on the face of this earth. But this is my take on one. It isn't made to be sweet, or kind, or heart warming. They are either real dreams (which a good majority are), real life things that happened, or an easy way to sum up what had happened. I don't know how many total dreams there are, but this is about 6 different girls from my past. Also, unlike my other poems, which are usually about one idea evolving. This is about my feelings for 6 different people, so I took 2 days and collectively got my thoughts together to make this, so you could say, Yes this is planned out and not a freestyle, but it has hardly been edited. On a side note: This is actually my favorite poem to date.
I had a dream you were in…
In this dream, you played the girl I loved, and I couldn’t get away from
But in reality I avoid you, and have severed all feelings for you.
You played the concerned part on stage, the part ive always wished you would play
But we are both strange, and our dreams are not the same.
Yet again,
I had a dream you were in…
In this dream, I meet you for the first time,
Although I’ve known you since I was a child.
In this dream I see you for every detail, but in reality you are shaded.
Wearing 2 masks, each one the opposite of the other,
But in my dream, I see what both masks equal…
Yet again,
I had a dream you were in…
In this dream you were stunning, and your attributes set the sanest man wild,
I would reach out for you only to back away, your hand still floating, saying you want more,
When all the while, the dream whispers to me, you are still just a child,
And your body closes just to open up again
As does a swinging opportunity door…
Yet Again,
I had a dream you were in…
In this dream you weren’t even a person
At times you were a ghost, or a floating naval boat.
In real life our friendship is completely digital, and I never see you
And in this dream I could never see you, just hear you.
You gave me advice, and you give me advice
You are more beautiful than looks, and my dream took away those looks.
Yet again,
I had a dream you were in…
In this dream you weren’t an object, but a person with wings
You would flutter about and the melodies you sing,
Well, the melodies you sang turned the birds into bats,
And your best acquainted attribute became the most hated thing,
For it brought envy to all who heard it, and killed all who saw it,
Yet again,
I had a dream you were in…
In this dream I was comforted by my own presents,
Sitting on a never ending stairway thinking about that time in the hallway,
That time you spilled your heart out to me,
The time where the man with a comeback was left speechless,
Then the though dissipated and the stairs turned flat,
And I slid down the slippery slope knowing the thought was my downfall.
Yet Again,
I had a dream you were in…
In this dream we kissed for the first time, daring to go where we shouldn’t.
And this dream became a reality, and we both wish it were still a dream,
It was the moment that the world froze, and the demons laughed.
However
I had a dream you were in…
The dream took place at a movie theater,
Although we were the show.
All eyes were on us but more so me because I was glowing,
I was happy, but you said I was drawing too much attention,
And bringing people into things they shouldn’t be a part of,
So you left me right there, and the lights settled as the previews rolled,
Yet again,
I had a dream you were in…
In this dream we were walking for miles, seeing the emptiness and calling it sightseeing.
But in reality we were floating forever trying to catch a few stars for wishes.
In this dream, there wasn’t even time for kisses,
Since we were so rushed through life, I just looked at you and pretended to care,
Then I did…
Yet again,
I had a dream you were in...
The dream took place at a movie theater,
Although we were the show.
All eyes were on us but more so on you because you had just walked away,
The whispers of the crowd was the sound of the calm wind before the tornado,
And as I sat there as the previews were ending, I got a text from you that said
“Come outside, It’s too crowded in there, Let’s get away”
So I left the theater, and that’s when the movie began,
Yet again,
I had a dream you were in…
In this dream I was walking right behind you,
and you were talking about you being a few steps ahead of me,
As to subconsciously warn me that you were past my phase,
And you were looking to a future without me.
Yet Again,
I had a dream you were in…
In this dream I was falling, with you floating right next to me,
Watching,
Like the ones before and the ones after,
And as you cluelessly watched me as I fell and you hovered,
You smiled, and I woke up.
Yet again,
I had a dream you were in…
In this dream we were in a carnival, and the clowns were reflections of my mistakes
You laughed at them and I smiled pretending to not care,
But once you realized the clowns were following me, you ran onto the roller coaster,
And that’s when the ride began.
Yet again,
I had a dream you were in…
In this dream the pages were empty, but the words still floated about.
You walked into the room and swallowed the words that you meant,
Puzzled I was as you handpicked only the most careful of words,
Making sure not to even touch the word “love”
Yet again,
I had a dream you were in…
In this dream you cared.
You smiled at me, and embraced me like I’ve always fiend for,
a tear shed from my eye and as it fell I woke up,
To realize that it wasn’t true,
And it was just a dream you were in.
