Gavel and nightsticks
Instead of hammer and sickle.
Lips bleeding leaving trails
Like Hansel and Grettle.
A tea kettle whistle
While they're Rushing you;
Black eye, red scare
With an American tune.
News reels reveal no real news.
That's nothing new
Seeing as cartoons is what they use these days
To get people to think their way.
A bias they're supplying
Means opinions are dying
To the fire they set us in.
Sleep now in it or swim,
Either way you can't sink or win;
Sing and bend
And dance monkey, dance
As they pace and jig to the clattering
Of your body hitting the ground as they continue battering.
Dreams grow by their feeding
While shattered by their beating.
Words take flight with singing
While their words are still stinging on my spine.
I'm paralyzed from time;
No feeling of it as I reach for my watch to wind.
But as history takes place,
We can't see the faces behind the curtains
That won't tell us for certain or answer why.
